Dechlorination
Atlantium's PharmaGuard uses Medium Pressure UV (Ultra-Violet) light that is optimized to its full potential by leveraging hydro-optic principles in its system design. The resulting polychromatic high-intensity UV light is most efficient in decomposing free-chlorine to undetectable levels, providing a clean, green alternative to frequently-used dechlorination methodologies, with reduced risk, better protection and lower operating expenses.
PharmaGuard Solution Safe, Reliable and Sustainable The mass-concentration of Free Available-Chlorine (FAC) used in production lines to inactivate microorganisms must be subsequently reduced to undetectable levels to protect the product from chlorine contamination as well as to protect RO (reverse osmosis) membranes, EDI (Electro De-Ionization) modules and other chlorine-sensitive equipment.
The PharmaGuard's very high doses of UV photons break down water-borne free-chlorine compounds to undetectable levels, for efficient Dechlorination.
The PharmaGuard is a safe, reliable and sustainable alternative to the Dechlorination methods that are frequently used. These include the activated carbon (AC) filters and sodium bisulfate (SBS)methods common in water intensive industries.
These methods have major drawbacks: they create an ideal environment for microorganisms to thrive, and require increased maintenance.
Traditional Methodologies' Disadvantages AC grains' relatively large surface areas and filter pores make it easy for microorganisms to attach and become a source of food for various types of bacteria. AC requires frequently-scheduled maintenance procedures such as hot sanitation and backwash. SBS is a source for sulphate bacteria and makes an ideal environment for anaerobic microorganisms, creating slime on the RO membranes.
