Flow-through/Firewall Systems
Fish farms in general and hatcheries in particular, struggle with the ever-present threat of disease outbreak due to pathogenic microorganisms in the inlet water. Contaminated water can be devastating to fish and lead to massive losses. It is therefore essential, as part of a comprehensive prophylactic program, to treat the inlet water with highly effective disinfection methods that increase bio-security and promote fish welfare.

Helping customers achieve bio-security
Together with each customer, Atlantium scientists formulate the appropriate strategy, centered on the Hydro-Optic Disinfection™ system’s disinfection capabilities. Installing the Atlantium system at the inlet to flow-through systems, disinfecting inlet water before it enters the tanks ensures bio-security.  Atlantium’s environmentally-friendly system can deliver the high ultraviolet doses that inactivates all target pathogens - viruses, fungi and other microorganisms present in different water types – sea, fresh, or brackish. Reliable and better water quality can translate to higher – but still safe and protected – fish density.

Automated monitoring ensures water receives required disinfection
Aquaculture customers gain additional advantage from Atlantium’s automated Monitoring and Control component that provides real-time, continuous reading of water flow rate, measurement of water UV transmissivity and lamp intensity and adjusts the required disinfection dose as conditions change. This automatic energy-saving feature provides the correct protection. The monitoring component’s data logging features enable traceability, giving customers real-time and historical information on water characteristics and dose for the entire production cycle.

All this translates into highly significant improvements in disease prevention rates. One Atlantium customer achieved impressive gains of 100% increase in fish survival rate. Atlantium’s customers report:

  • Stable production even under fluctuating water conditions
  • Higher fish survival rates
  • Increase in stock welfare
  • Higher fish density - more efficient use of their infrastructure
