Re-circulation
Hatcheries and fish farms struggle with balancing the fish growing environment so no one organism dominates the tank, causing disease and leading to serious losses. Re-circulated water’s characteristics must be such that they maintain a stable microbial load and thus bio-security.

Continuously maintain fish welfare with a comprehensive solution
Atlantium’s Hydro Optic Disinfection™ system is installed on re-circulation lines as part of a comprehensive prophylactic strategy, formulated in consultation with Atlantium’s scientific team. Water re-entering the tanks is treated with the dose required to preserve a stable microbial load, resulting in optimal water quality and increasing fish welfare.

Atlantium’s comprehensive solution includes an automated Monitoring and Control component that provides real-time, continuous reading of water flow rate, measurement of water UV transmissivity and lamp intensity and adjusts the required disinfection dose as conditions change. This automatic energy-saving feature provides the correct protection. The monitoring component’s data logging features enable traceability, giving customers real-time and historical information on water characteristics and dose for the entire production cycle.

With the Hydro Optic Disinfection system installed to maintain a stable microbial load in re-circulated water, Atlantium’s customers have increased fish density while experiencing greater survival rates. One customer using Atlantium’s environmentally-friendly system on a re-circulation line increased fish density by 90% and survival rates by 23% . Atlantium’s customers report:

  • Increase in production
  • Increase in survival rates
  • Improvement of food conversion rates
  • Increase in fish density - more efficient use of infrastructure
